Welcome to The Backroads Blog

This is the spot where I'm supposed to tell you a little bit about me. Well, I'm a wife to the most amazing man on the face of the earth. Danny keeps me grounded and yet lifts me up. I'm a mother to a fabulous daughter who is growing into the most unique, spirited and beautiful young woman I've ever met. (Sarah is very much her Daddy's girl). I have a quirky little dog named Cooper who likes pepperoni, long walks, and belly rubs.

And I'm a photographer. There is something about capturing life as it happens that just can't be explained. When I can capture a moment in your life, it's like freezing a tiny moment in time to save forever. Time passes quickly, and memories fade, but photographs keep those memories alive.

Let's get together and talk about what kind of memories I can capture for you. I guarantee we'll have fun in the process!!

Two Very Adorable Kiddos!

Recently I got to have some fun in the studio with Korby and AJ.  These are two very special individuals–their daddy grew up with my husband, and they are close family friends.  We sent mom and dad away while we got some great shots!  Seriously, you can’t look at these kids without thinking “CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!!!”

Amanda and Brian Engagement

What a beautiful couple!  I’ve known Amanda and Brian for years, they went to shool with my daughter and I’ve watched them both grow and mature into beautiful people.  When Brian was really young, he spent a lot of time playing in my backyard with Sarah and Corey.  Where has the time gone???

Well, both Amanda and Brian are all grown up and getting married next July.  We spent some time hanging out and shooting some engagement shots until we ran out of light.  We’re planning to do some downtown shots before winter sets in.  Here are a few from our first session:

Yay, It’s Complete!!!!!!!

For those of you who remember the post about the bathroom renovation, or for those of you who have listened to me moan about the bathroom renovation, please excuse me for a moment while I clap my hands and dance with joy!  It is done!!!!!!!

Danny has worked so hard and done a great job, and now we have a 3/4 bath downstairs.  Thanks, Honey, you’re the best!!!!!  Here’s a picture of the before:

And here are some pictures of our new bathroom.  And, before you ask yourself, is that orange?  Let me tell you, yes, it is orange.  If you’ve been in my house, you know I LOVE color.  This, however, was supposed to be a warm golden yellow.  Unfortunately, I was away from the house and picked the color from the Lowe’s site on a computer.

Honest, it looked yellow on the computer!  I sent the name and number of the color to Danny who picked it up and painted it just like I asked.  Imagine my surprise when I walked in and saw my golden yellow was orange.  LOL!  BUT, we like it, and we kept it.

Here is the new shower (Sarah is glad to claim this one as hers!) :-)

Jordan Sr. 09

Senior season is certainly in full swing!  I’m trying to keep up with my editing, and fortunately I have some wonderful seniors to work with.  I met with Jordan to take his senior pictures, and we found some cool spots that were fun and a little different.

Jordan is a really awesome young man, fun and easy to be around (plus I think he looks a little like Heath Ledger!)  We did his sister Emily’s senior pictures last year, and I was so pleased to do Jordan’s, too.

Thanks, Jordan!

Kylee’s Back!

Kylee came to the studio, and she is just as stunning there as she is outdoors!  We had a good time and got some great images.  Thanks, Kylee!  Here are just a few from the evening.

What a Beauty!

I’ve known Latasha since she was in the 5th grade, but I hadn’t gotten the chance to be around her lately, so I had no idea that the cute little girl had grown into a beautiful young woman!  WOW!  Latasha, you’re such a sweet person and a fabulous model!!!

Ashley, Senior 2009

I got together with Ashley to do some senior portraits.  We shot in the studio first, and then went downtown a few days later.  Ashley is so much fun and has a unique outlook on life, and she had me laughing most of the shoot!  Thanks, Ashley, just for being you!

Some more family time

We went back to get a few  more shots of the Stewart family because rain and cloudy skies cut us short the first time.  I liked this family the very first time I met them because they are so much fun and obviously love each other very much!  Here are some shots from our second session:

Where’s my magic wand. . .

I realized it had been two weeks since I have blogged–Yikes!!!  I have been shooting a LOT and trying to keep up, and I promise to have some new images posted soon.  In the meantime, I thought I’d share with you what has been going on at my house.

My dear, sweet husband (and that is said in all honesty, no sarcasm, because he IS the dearest and sweetest person I know!) decided that a total renovation of our downstairs bathroom was in order.  In his wonderfully optimistic way, he thought it would be done in about 4 or 5 days.  That was over two weeks ago.

It is so necessary, though, because life at the Golubski household in the mornings is nothing short of CRAZY.  Two women trying to put make up on and a man just desperately trying to stay out of the way makes for some interesting argumentsummm, conversations.

The bathroom will be changed from a 1/2 bath to a 3/4 bath, and Sarah will be forever banned from our bathroom (love you, Sarah, but you definitely need your own bathroom!).  In the meantime, my normally marginally orderly house has deteriorated into a barely habitable construction zone.

Here are some shots from ground zero.  I’m hoping to be able to show you some “after” shots really soon!

Family Time

Danny and I had the pleasure of working with the Stewart family recently.  Not only are they a great looking family, they are also a lot fun!  We tried to take pictures in between sprinkles of rain, and we fought some thick cloud cover, but we managed to get some good images!

Thanks, guys, for having us out to your beautiful home!
